I only really caught one band due to work today, and to leaving early to get some rest for tomorrow which will be a longer stint. But as that band was Honeybug this was indeed a major highlight of the event. I love this band and all who sail in her. There’s been various line-ups over the decade that I have known Ni and I’ve never been disappointed by any of them. Honeybug make me happy. It’s as simple as that. I don’t know what magic Ni weaves with the music and lyrics but it works every time and I adore him for it.
Lots of my favourites in the set. (They are all my favourites to be honest). And I get to see them again tomorrow! 🙂
Poor wifi stopped play last night. Couldn’t see what had sent and what hadn’t. Anyway, highlight of the night was both B-Leaguers sets. I was supposed to go home after the first one but stayed for the later set too because I enjoyed it so much.
Fab to hear the stuff off the new album played live (and fast and furious) and rousing ending with a cover of Ever Fallen In Love by the Buzzcocks.
Brian (of Minty and the Beeb fame) joined them on harmonica too!
This band from Vatican City singing about God did not sound as I expected. They were very heavy, far heavier than you would expect from a Catholic rock band. The lead singing prowled the audience and even on borrowed instruments the band really brought it. I only got a brief snippet of video but hopefully it’s gives you an inkling of the performance!
I uploaded some videos to youtube over night last night. So if you check back on the entries for 2am Turnaround, The Corridors, Mike Badger, mylittlebrother, Fun of the Pier and Lloyd & Daly you will find newly added videos.
Dave Rave (right) wandered into my work today. So strange seeing him so early in the event. He usually turns up at the end just as a lot of folks have left. Always a pleasure. He’s pictured here with his guitarist for this tour Chris Wheeler. Looking forward to seeing the set on Sunday night.
I may have overestimated the power of the Cavern wifi at busy times as all my posts were sent after I emerged into the land of phone data connection this evening. It’s all a lot busier from here on in but I’ll do my best to keep up.
Remember that at some point I’ll be adding more photos, links and the occasional video to the entries.
And for regular readers overwhelmed by the sudden flurry of posts – it will all go back to normal service after the event is over. Don’t worry.
Technical hitches marred the planned set by Dave Lloyd, but he wasn’t going to let a mere snafu stop the show. Instead of whatever delights we were going to get from the planned trio of musicians we got a Lloyd and Daly set of some nice easy listening type covers. Dave was as entertaining as ever and and Lauren’s guitar skills are finely tuned.
